Blores Hill 6 Hour Enduro Trail Work

Work Required
A: General sweep of leaf litter off track
B: Build bridge over water flow area
C: Add gravel to climb up to Trig
D: Sweep loose gravel out of corners on Switchback Heaven
E: Build bridge over pallet crossing on Legs Hurt climb
F: Whipper snipper long grass along track
G: Rebuild big right hand corner berm half way down
H: General sweep of leaf litter off track
I: Build bridge over water flow area
J: Rebuild big left hand corner berm at descent end
K: Reopen track to climb onto Trial Track

Let me know if I have missed anything and post up here when you have completed each job in the lead up to the event so we all know what is left to tackle.

For those of you who did not make the working bee, please only tackle the whipper snippers or trail sweeping jobs until someone can run you through the building work required.

Great race on the weekend. Thanks to all those again who took the time to organise and get things done, it is very much appreciated.

Thought I would post the Garmin data so people could see where the hell we were!!! There were certainly some great tracks, some I have never seen (or at least can't remember) with some spectacular scenery. The signal dropped a few times in the deep gullies and I had it set for the road bike still so stopped recording when I dropped below 5km/h.

May 5th Cyclocross race, Bairnsdale - use your MTBA licence

Hi mountainbikers!,

Bairnsdale and Riviera Cycling Club are holding a cyclocross race this Saturday May 5th, 2pm, at the West Bairnsdale Oval (opposite the indoor pool).

We'd like to see as many people as possible so I've arranged with Cycling Victoria that riders can race with a UCI (road) licence OR an MTBA licence.

So, although late notice, consider yourselves invited! Use any sort of bike, mtb, hybrid, old roadie w/fat tyres, or genuine 'cross bike.

Cyclocross racing, for those that don't know is a short race (45mins to 1 hour) held over grass/gravel/dirt and has been popular in Europe for 100 years.

Does anyone know of any dh tracks around gippsland other than Churchill and Mt moornappa if so can someone please tell me would be greatly appreciated. and i am spencer who was on the dh bike at Blores hill for our first ride day.

Mt Taylor DH and XC - Official Discussion

It is with great pleasure that Gippsland MTB Inc. together with Andrew Sharpe from the Bairnsdale Department of Sustainability and Environment, announce that the Mt Taylor Downhill Mountain Bike Track is officially OPEN for LEGAL use at any time!

More is planned for the area in terms of trails for both DH and XC riding, but in the meantime, the main Double Black Diamond Downhill Mountain Bike Track is ready to go. Just keep an eye out over the coming months while the trail builders are out and about adding and polishing a few aspects of the original course. Camping is free at the venue and the course is signposted from the trail head. Please remember to RESPECT the Rules of the Trail and make sure that you ride safe and enjoy yourself! Please stick to the marked course as other illegal trails will be revegetated.

To keep an eye on the continual progress of Mt Taylor check back here regularly.

Seeking volunteers for a drinking aid station at Ironman Melbourne

Some members of the club are volunteering at this event by way of being Riviera Tri Club members as well. We are seeking at least 22 volunteers for the station.

The event is Sunday 25th March. You may know the IM race is the pinnacle of triathlon racing and this run course in Melbourne will offer a massive spectator opportunity given it follows the Port Phillip Bay coastline to St Kilda.

Our aid station will be 16kms into the run and we are looking at staffing it from midday to around 8pm with a roster.

Fury 2011

I own "re:cycling" in Leongatha and have bought a GT Fury for a customer to find that his finance fell through and because I am not a down hill rider I have no use for it. It has had minimum use as it was featured in a mag review during 2011 and has been displayed in a few shops, maximum of 50ks on the bike. Retailed at $8999.00 but happy to accept $6,000. It is in as new condition. I dearly would like to move this as it is just sitting there.

Rode Blores yesterday and the track is in good nick.
I notice some of the trail markers and track numbers are missing.
Rumour has it that Parks Vic came through the other day chasing motorbikes and pulled the signs down but only took those they could reach from the 4x4.
Not too much harm done.

Erica MTB trails

Been doing a bit of riding and trail maintenance on the trails at Erica, apart from a few minor disturbances involving a dozer on Crazy Snake all the trails are in good condition. In particular Axemens, Roots and All, Bones, and Crazy Snake. So if you haven't ridden em in a while get up there and have a look you want be disappointed.

I'm wondering if anyone has some good maps of mtb tracks in Gippsland? Perhaps we could make a Google maps page will all the good tracks from GPS routes.

I'm quite new to Gippsland and have found it hard to find out the best spots to ride. I live in Delburn near Mirboo North and would be keen to meet up with some locals for a few training rides too.
