4X Fires Back Up @ Delhuntie Park
Take the time to visit the original web page for the track at http://home.vicnet.net.au/~fourx/. Take a look around and discover some of the glory days, including old school footage of ‘mountain cross’ racing on the dvd titled ‘Inertia’. This 4X track was the creation of the Scale family (namely Brendan), who are about to pass the property onto the new owner Ryan Doughty. Ryan has embraced the idea of continuing the 4X track at Delhuntie Park as it provides an outlet for many people to meet, ride together and have a great time on a challenging 40 second track. 4X racing is all about placing 4 riders in the start gate, dropping the gate at random, and letting the racing take its course down the track. Fun to watch but even more fun if you are holding onto your handlebars ripping into sweeping berms and boosting your bike over mind twisting gaps. GMTB as a club are committed to keep running events at Delhuntie Park 4X track at an affordable price. Events will range from club open days, club racing weekends and maybe the odd ‘one off’ event such as ‘The Battle of Trafalgar’ – an event that places dirt bikes against mountain bikes, 4X racing, dirt jumping and even lake jumping. The GMTB club ride day was a great chance to experience the track and is a starting point to fire up a whole new breed of mountain bikers in Gippsland. Make sure you stay in the loop and get your backside trackside next time we announce an event. If you are interested in helping out with the track feel free to drop in the forums page and let us know – the more hands we have lightens the load! We are sure as the word gets around that the Delhuntie Park 4X track is once again open, mountain bikers will be waiting for their chance to hit it up. Gippsland MTB is responsible for management, event planning and correspondence regarding riding the track and if you should require further information please shoot us an email to info@gippslandmtb.com.au. Photos of the track and ride day are also included Photo Gallery.
