Competition At Blores Hill Enduro Heats Up!

The battle for Outright honours came down to Brenton Jones fighting it out with father/sun team of Tony and Morgan Clark. Brenton held off their challenge to complete 9 laps in 2:13:37 with Team Clark coming a close second with 9 laps in 2:21:42. Third place was taken by Dave McFarlane with 8 laps in 3:57:46.

Vicky McLenond took out the Solo Female competition after a close battle with Amber Smith. Vicky took 3:59:42 to complete 4 laps to Amber’s 4:31:48. Amber was leading this race until she suffered massive leg cramps in the final KM’s of the race. The Junior result went to GMTB’s Julian Thomas after he completed an impressive 7 laps 4:09:14 and finished an impressive 11th Outright!

The race for the lead of the Gippsland MTB Championship went down to the wire with Mark Baines throwing caution to the wind to do one more lap when he came into the control with 1 minute to spare. With the effort he took over the lead from Graeme Trewern & Travis McInnes with Graeme overheating and Travis failing to start.

Also run on this day was Max Cook’s 12 Hours in the Saddle to raise money. Max started his effort in the early hours of the morning to try to finish at the same time as the race. Unfortunately he was still on the course once the race completed. He did complete his endurance run and managed to raise over $300.00. He was also spotted helping out quite a few competitors that had mechanical failures during the day.

All up this day raised $1,500 to go towards GMTB Members that had been effected by the recent bushfires and by all accounts is the most successful event that has yet been run by the club. Next month we are running our first Point to Point race from a point near Rawson down to Glengarry. This sound prove to be a new and exciting format so watch the website for more details closer to the event.
