A dozen or so kids waited anxiously for the field of 45 entrants to get under way so they could start their race and watched as Brad Fisher led the field first time around. Brad continued to build on his lead and after 4 hours had established a comfortable lead over the chasing pack with Ashley Higman just shading Matthew Franke for the minor placings.

Meanwhile, a similar story was playing out amongst the ladies with Courtney Shinn leading out and gradually building a big lead over Kirstin Curtis, while in the under 19’s, Christopher Standfield finished with a narrow advantage over Malte Adebahr on his single speed!

The teams event was taken out by the mightly Team Keith with Team Riders Dan Robie and media celebrity David T Moss taking a commanding lead from the start and powering away to the finish through the use of the “I go then you go” team strategy. This could be the team to watch in next years championship!

A combination of great tracks, great weather and great spirit made for an enjoyable experience for young and old at Nowa Nowa’s great mountain bike tracks. Next up for Gippsland mountain bike club is a point to point race at Erica on the 28th of October.
