Thank You And Congratulations To Our Volunteers!!!!!
A huge thank you goes to all of our volunteers for their superb effort at last weekend’s Australian MTB Series event (Downhill) at Mt Baw Baw.
We have received nothing but praise from MTBA officials and riders alike, all commenting on the professionalism and effortless way in which our volunteers contributed to what was a fantastic event.
Thanks to our XC riders who turned up, many of whom had never been to a downhill event, we thank you for assisting your fellow downhill Club members. Also, to the downhill riders who gave up competing for the weekend to help out, we know how hard it must have been to watch and not ride, so thank you!
A rider’s comment below (taken from a rotorburn forum) seems to say it all!
“The National Series at Baw Baw was ……….. perfect.
Gippsland MTB, Volunteers, Jayco, Specialized, Riders & MTBA all conspired to deliver a downhill experience that everyone loved.
Rarely do the stars align to give rain and mud – transformed into DH track perfection with weather the event partner.
I have NEVER been to an event that had no whinges – as there was nuthin to complain ’bout.
Thanks, thanks, thanks well done! GMTB showin how to do it!!!!“
We also need to congratulate our riders who not only volunteered on the weekend, but also graced the podium.
- Leonie Picton made it 2 from 2, coming off a win at the Nationals in Tasmania in December, winning the Elite Women’s category in a blistering time!
- Mark Baines – 2nd placing in the Super-Masters.
- Karl Peel – 1st in Veteren Mens
- Steve McRae – 3rd in Masters
- Scott Mynard 1st in the Hardtail category
- Jacinta Nelsson 2nd in Veteran Women’s
Whilst not wanting to single anyone out, as any contribution to an event is fantastic, special mention should go to Melissa Cosson for her efforts in the job that no-one ever wants – Race Director – a brilliant effort in a somewhat stressful job! Also to Nick King, Spencer Morris and Jesse Beare who spent 6 days at Baw Baw finalising the grooming of the track, putting up bunting, signs and doing what needed to be done and then packing it all up again – good on you guys – well done.
