Nowa Nowa 3 Hour Enduro: 25-Sep-2011
Round 8 of the Gippsland MTB Club Championship sees riders return to East Gippsland and the purpose built MTB Trails at Nowa Nowa. For those of you that have never been there, this would be the perfect opportunity to experience these trails built by club members Pete & Max Cook.
The start location will be at the main Nowa Nowa MTB Park trail head. To get there take the first road on the left after crossing Boggy Creek bridge heading towards Orbost, approximately 1km from Princes Highway on Old Buchan Road.
The lap will be quite different to previous Nowa Nowa races. It will start by climbing up Track 4, onto Track 5 to the top of the park. It will then descend the top section of Track 5 until it meets up with Track 3 for a short climb to the top of Track 2. It will then descend all the way down everybody’s favorite, Track 2. Should be a bit more challenging than previous Nowa Nowa events but still achievable by all.
The course will be approximately 10.5 KM in length with competitors doing a many, or little, laps as they can within the 3 hour time frame.
The event will be open to both members and non-club members and will also offer both solo and team classes.
There has been some interest about having a kids event at Nowa Nowa for primary school aged kids at the same time as the main enduro. The idea is to have a half hour race/ride on tracks 1, 6 and 7 that will not interfere with the main event. Nowa Nowa is one of the only locations that has a purpose built short family track for this type of thing. The entry for this event is $20 and will cover the day license and a drink and sausage at the end of the event. Enter on the day for this event.
