Pete’s Track Sprint: 27-May-2012
Round 4 of the Gippsland MTB championship sees the return of one of the favorite events of last year with a sprint race at Pete’s Track. This is one of the original tracks that is known to many riders who rarely have a bad word to say about it (unless it has been over used by motorbikes). It has a bit of everything with flowing singletrack, small rock gardens and log crossings. The track can be ridden by riders of all skill levels and is a common course for school groups, the difficulty comes from the speed the course is tackled.
This event will follow a format similar to downhill events where riders get to have practice runs of the course until the event start time. Each rider will then get to complete two separate runs of the course with their best time counted towards to final standings. With the track being approximately 5km long, this means that the event will be a sprint.
So come and complete the annual event and try to be crowned the fastest person down Pete’s Track. Last year Karl Peel took the honors, but there are many challengers ready to take it from him.
Entry has been capped at 100 as we need to allow time for each competitor to have 2 runs down the track and be shuttled back to the start location so pre-register to ensure your place at this event.
