S&J Cycles Eaglehawk Scramble – 28th April, 2013
It’s been a few years since we have ventured into the Glengarry North Hills, but its back. Better than ever. The Eaglehawk Scramble XC Point to Point Race proudly supported by S&J Cycles will form Round 3 of the Gippsland MTB Club Championship using a variety of back country trails.
The race will conclude at the lower end of Fraser’s Lane and entry and car parking will be kindly provided at a local property. The Gippsland MTB shuttle buses and trailers will be on hand to shuttle competitors to the start at the top end of Cowarr-Walhalla Rd.
The shuttle sequence will be on a ‘first registered, last out’ basis. That is, the earlier you register, the later your assigned shuttle time will be, which means less loitering at the start line and vice-versa.
Your shuttle time will be assigned to you prior to the event via email. It is your responsibility to ensure you are at the shuttle pick up area at least 10 minutes prior to your assigned departure time or its about 14km of pedalling prior to the race if you miss it…
Due to the added complexity of staging a point to point race as opposed to a multi-lap XC enduro, online pre-registration will be the entry method. If you are unable to pre-register, please contact us at events@gippslandmtb.com.au or call Graeme on 0408 595 294 to make alternative arrangements. Registrations on the day will not be accepted. The event registration will close on Wednesday, 24th April at midnight and rider numbers will be capped at 60. To avoid disappointment, get in early as this is one not to be missed!
To get to the registration/finish line area, turn on to Glengarry North Rd from Traralgon Maffra Rd, then turn left on to Fraser’s Lane after about 4.5km. Signage will be posted from the Traralgon Maffra Rd.
The course will be approximately 30km in length and the locals have put a huge amount of effort into the course to make it one you will remember. The course showcases the diversity of the land in the area, from sandy to rocky sections, black boy plantations, Mossy’s Madness and possibly even the famed Ewok Village brought to you by ‘Northshore Dan.’
The event is open to both members and non-club members for both solo and team pair entries for those that need a riding buddy for support. Results for team pairs will be the average of the individual riders times within the team. Junior riders are welcome, however if under 14 years old they will need to be accompanied by a registered adult rider.
S & J Cycles have put together some excellent prize packs and Shane (The ‘S’ in S&J Cycles) will be on about for tech support. Considering the lycra-brigade didn’t have a race in March, this one is going to be big. So register and be a part of it!
