Women’s Dirty Weekend: 3rd & 4th May 2014

Have you ever wanted to have a go at riding single track in the bush but have nobody to go with? Or ride that roll over, rocky section or drop but never had the guts? Or, for the guys, have you ever wanted to get your wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter, sister or female friend into mountain biking but weren’t sure how to start? Here’s your chance.

Gippsland MTB are hosting a women’s social ride weekend on the fun and cruisy trails at Blores Hill and surrounds on 3rd and 4th of May. Female riders of all abilities are encouraged to come along and have a go at mountain biking, meet new riding buddies, develop riding skills (including all those obstacles you never thought possible), learn some mechanic skills, eat good food and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!

The weekend will start at 9.30am Saturday at Blores Hill Caravan Park with some basic skills, before hitting the trails in ability groups and having some fun for the afternoon. In the evening we will travel to Heyfield to indulge in a lovely meal from Café 3858 and share stories of the day’s adventures. (Price of meal included in cost and drinks can be brought at bar prices).

To add to your experiences, on Sunday we will load our bikes onto the GMTB trailer and travel (via mini bus) to Bulldog Junction to ride the awesome Pete’s Track. Bulldog Junction is located out the back of Glenmaggie. It’s a great opportunity to have a go at riding an easy ‘Gravity Enduro’ styled course. You start at a higher elevation and finish at a lower elevation, then get shuttled to the start to do it again. The track is approximately 5km in length, showcasing fast, flowing trails, optional rock gardens and log rides. It’s definitely suitable for all abilities and a great opportunity to ride a fantastic trail.

All fitness and skill levels are welcome. You don’t need to be a club member to participate. The emphasis is on fun and having a go.

All you need to bring is a mountain bike in good condition (have it serviced prior if not sure), helmet, spare tubes, riding clothes, small backpack, water bottle, sleeping gear, personal items, LUNCH for the FIRST day and any specific food items you prefer while riding. The club has some bikes available to loan for the weekend if you don’t have a mountain bike.

The cost is $100 per person for club members which includes a fantastic weekend of organised riding, meals (except lunch first day), accommodation, and hire of mini bus. Non- MTBA members pay an additional $5 for a social license. For catering and accommodation purposes, all participants need to pre-register online by Tuesday 22nd April. Once you have registered an email will be forwarded to you with further information regarding dinner Saturday night. Please inform us if you have any dietary requirements.
