Forrest Ramble 2013: 15-17 Nov 2013
The sleepy little town of Forrest will come alive on the weekend of the 15-17 November 2013 when GMTB rolls in. The dedicated MTB park just out of Forrest has the famous Mariner’s Run, with loads of mapped trails ranging from smooth easy flowing stuff to rutted and rooty advanced climbs and descents. On the other side of town is the Red Carpet trail, which winds past the local water reservoir before heading up into the hills for a long steady climb. But don’t despair… What goes up must come down, and Red Carpet is about as good as it gets for smooth and fast descents. The distances covered will be determined on the day, so we can cater for the super athletes or the cruisey cruisers. If the weather is hot we will almost definitely take a dip in the local swimming hole, a spectacular abandoned quarry.

Charcoal Never Lies!
Roughly 50 punters showed up for the “Eaglehawk Scramble” latin for “a downhill ride with mostly climbing”. A couple of ‘private’ pre race briefings were held … one for Ash Webster ……don’t worry Ash , in your definition of ‘hills” there are none here, it’s flat….after his banquet of bulls**t served up when he said of Foster “only one 200m climb”.
And another to Black Caviar ( Brad Fisher ) “do you understand the reason we have guide tape, try not to make up your own route.”, after his pioneering trail blazing effort at the Blores Twilight race last year…..
